Connect and configure access points

Extend WiFi coverage without creating a second router or bypassing the hotspot.

MikroTik and indoor outdoor access point layout
The MikroTik controls access. Access points bridge customers back to it.

Configure each access point

  1. Connect the access point to a MikroTik LAN or hotspot bridge port.
  2. Open the access point management page or app.
  3. Select Access Point, Bridge or AP mode.
  4. Disable DHCP server, NAT and router mode on the access point.
  5. Set the customer SSID and wireless security required for the site.
  6. Give the access point a management IP that does not conflict with the MikroTik DHCP pool.
  7. Save and reboot the access point.
  8. Join the SSID with a phone and confirm the phone receives the MikroTik hotspot IP range.
